Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Opens in Kansas City
KANSAS CITY, KS (BUSINESS WIRE), February 17, 2008 - A new 117-room Country Inn & Suites By Carlson has opened its doors for business in the Legends Shopping Center area at 1805 North 110th Street in Kansas City, Kan.
"We're very excited to bring the Country Inns & Suites By Carlson concept to this region," said Steve Mogck, executive vice president and brand leader, Country Inns & Suites By Carlson. "All employees will participate in the Country Inns & Suites 'Be Our Guest' service training program, to ensure consistent delivery of quality customer service at our hotels."
The hotel features an indoor pool, whirlpool and on-site fitness center. Other amenities include a complimentary deluxe continental breakfast and 50-person capacity meeting room with available fax and copy service. The hotel offers a variety of guest rooms including standard rooms, one bedroom suites, two bedroom suites, Jacuzzi rooms and extended stay suites. All rooms feature complimentary wired and wireless high-speed Internet access, 32-inch flat-screen televisions, refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, hairdryer and iron with ironing board.
This Country Inn & Suites property is located near the Kansas City Speedway and is within walking distance to Legends Shopping Center. The hotel is within 20 miles of three golf courses and less than 25 miles from Kansas City International Airport.
Sheraton Hotels Go Smoke-Free
KANSAS CITY, MO (BUSINESS WIRE), February 17, 2008 - Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. has announced that its Sheraton(R) and Four Points(R) by Sheraton hotel brands will implement a smoke-free policy at more than 300 hotels and resorts throughout the U.S., Caribbean and Canada. Sheraton and Four Points by Sheraton have begun converting all smoking guestrooms to non-smoking in preparation for the new policy. In addition, all public areas will also be 100% smoke-free.
Sheraton and Four Points by Sheraton hotels decision to go smoke-free reflects both brands' commitment to providing guests with a clean, comfortable and healthy stay. The new policy also follows in the footsteps of their sister brand, Westin, who became the first hotel chain to go smoke-free in January 2006 when the brand introduced the policy across all hotels in the U.S., Canada and Caribbean. Due to the overwhelming feedback from guests Westin hotels in Australia, Fiji, and Scotland have also gone smoke-free.
To prepare for the new policy approximately 8,000 smoking rooms will undergo an extensive cleaning process. This includes deep cleaning all soft goods, and treating all hard surfaces, walls and carpets to eliminate allergens, replacing air filters and deep cleaning all air conditioning units.
Ameristar Casinos Opens St. Charles Hotel
ST. LOUIS, MO (SLFP.com), February 3, 2008 - Ameristar Casinos, Inc. has opened the first 100 suites of its 400-suite, luxury hotel in St. Charles, MO.
The Company currently expects no less than 80 to 100 additional suites will be opened to the public each month thereafter, with all suites available for occupancy this spring. Originally slated to open December 2007, the property's 7,000-square-foot spa and indoor/outdoor pool are now scheduled for an early spring completion.

Upon completion of the hotel and spa, Ameristar Casino St. Charles will be re-named Ameristar Casino Resort Spa in St. Charles. The luxury hotel with 400 oversized suites including presidential and spa suites, the 7,000-square-foot, full-service spa, a new indoor/outdoor pool surrounded by landscaped grounds, cabanas and fire pits, and a new 2,300-space parking garage, will complement a series of newly opened improvements at the resort.
